Teachers—Have you ever puzzled over the multiplicity of personality styles—not to mention the multiplicity of characters!—in your classroom?
Church Leaders—Have you ever noticed how “united in one faith” rarely translates to everyone seeing eye to eye on the many issues of working in community?
Business, Mental Health, and Organizational Leaders—Have you observed how employees often struggle with basic communication skills, sometimes frustrating interpersonal relations and team progress?
Parents—Have you ever wondered how such different children can result from the same set of parents?
There are many reasons for the above, and the most foundational is that fascinating interweaving of nature and nurture we call personality style. The mother/daughter team of Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers thought long and hard on all this more than half a century ago and gave us the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Don Lowry built upon the work of Myers-Briggs, creating True Colors, a more user-friendly personality profile superbly suited for educational, hospital, church, business, and family settings.
The True Colors workshop—excellent for welcoming new staff members, integrating and in-servicing new employees and work teams, kicking off important work projects, beginning new school years, and more—is an effective, adaptable, fun-filled, and insightful learning opportunity designed to help us better understand ourselves and others through the fascinating world of personality style.
